Ditch the Zoom Doom
Self Care for Everyone Strapped to their Screens
Did your screen time skyrocket in 2020?
The first lockdown in UK was declared the night before my birthday in March 2020. Zoom use skyrocketed to over 300 million daily meeting participants in April 2020. Before long, everyone was using videoconferencing for work, social interactions, medical and therapeutic care.
Meanwhile, employers were expecting team members to attend meetings and complete work at the same rate as when they had the support of In Person connection and motivation. They got frustrated when people started to feel depressed and isolated, because they weren't able to be as present or engaged.
Zoom Fatigue took over as people went down rabbit holes in their pyjamas, unable to sleep, dreading having to face another screen filled with tiny boxes of faces staring back at them. Zoom has become an integral part of professional life and now we're ready to do it in a more sustainable way, for our physical, emotional and psychological health.
Acknowledge - Understand - Recover
Have we truly acknowledged the impact of so many Zoom calls in our lives? On our physical health, our mental health... on our eyeballs?!
Ditch the Zoom Doom starts by naming the consequences of the plethora of pixels and profile pics. With a non-judgmental, compassionate and pragmatic approach, we can start to understand some of the contributing factors and see what changes we may need to make in order to build a sustainable work environment.
I am not anti-Zoom or anti-screen. I was working as a therapist online for a decade before the pandemic and I haven't returned to my lovely, comfy clinic on Harley Street since.
Instead, I built my own lovely, comfy workspace at home and started sharing my findings with others. In this mini-course, we're going to identify the ways in which we have been affected by Online Fatigue and build a Self Care plan for sustainability and enjoyment in your online world.

Ditch the Zoom Doom Curriculum
In 6 modules of bite-sized video lessons, this course walks through acknowledgement, understanding and prevention of online fatigue. Instead of just telling you to switch off your phone before 9pm, this course explores and validates the range of factors that contribute to the dread of online calls, and helps both hosts and participants create a self care plan with your physical, emotional and mental health at the forefront.
